Shaun O’Driscoll was a broken man when he first walked into the Lighthouse Support Centre. Once an addict, he recalls, “at first I was using it for my own needs – food, fellowship – but still getting up to mischief and still using drugs. Until one day a friend of mine encouraged me to attend a Bible study [at the Lighthouse].”
Shaun is grateful to the Lighthouse and M26 who have provided tremendous support throughout his recovery, however he credits his radical transformation to God. Now, months into his journey, Shaun is in full-time employment and recently attended the 2nd annual Lighthouse Mums & Kids Weekend at Faskally House to serve in the kitchen.
11 families from the Tillydrone community participated in parenting classes, kids sessions, crafts, team sports and group activities as part of the weekend in Perthshire.
“I just wanted to give something in return for all the blessings I’ve received over the last 3 years,” Shaun states. He was part of a team of 7 people who served over 50 adults and children who attended the retreat.
“My highlight was seeing all the families having a really good time… I took great delight in giving something back to the community I was once a menace to.”
