Christmas Day 2016 marked a first for the Lighthouse in it’s thirteen year history; we hosted Christmas lunch at the centre. Individuals & families from the community were invited to join us to celebrate Christmas Day with a number of our staff & support workers and their families.
The heart behind this new venture was to encourage and facilitate those within the community who may have been alone or facing Christmas with anxiety and to give them a fun-filled and memorable day.
“It was the best Christmas me and my family have ever had. It helped me so much cus I’d been up through the night on Christmas eve feeling so low.”
After a Christmas Day celebration at Sundays @ Lighthouse, we all sat down to a three course meal of soup or melon, roast turkey and all the trimmings, with sticky toffee pudding and profiteroles to top it off nicely! There was much hilarity with games and challenges, engaging with all ages and stages.
With over 40 mouths to feed we were very grateful to have been promised partial funding from the Aberdeen City Council Community Festive Fund.
It is hoped that the Christmas Day lunch will become a regular feature in the annual Lighthouse Christmas programme.
